About

I4MS, ICT Innovation for Manufacturing SMEs, is a European initiative supporting manufacturing SMEs and mid-caps in the widespread use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in their business operations. Under I4MS, SMEs can apply for technological and financial support to conduct experiments allowing them to test digital innovations in their business via open calls.

The European manufacturing sector includes approximately 2.1 million enterprises generating 31 million jobs and representing about 15% of the EU’s GDP1. 59% of all enterprises within the sector are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Given that together these companies generate about 45% of the total added manufacturing value, they are an important pillar of the European economy. For Europe to remain competitive internationally, its companies must be able to benefit from digital opportunities.

Phase 4 aims at accelerating the uptake of digital technologies in processes across Europe focused on extending the transformative impact to companies, regions and sectors, and supporting personalised and cost-effective small-scale production based on secure digital technologies.

Innovations

I4MS provides access to leading edge
technologies in the manufacturing sector. The 2019 I4MS brochure intends to provide a summary of the latest technological proposals created by Innovation Actions working under the I4MS umbrella

Pilots

Application Experiments are a fast and easy way to test advanced technologies and one of the key services that the I4MS initiative offers to SMEs is the possibility of testing with one of the four technologies supported by I4MS.

Get funded

I4MS Open Calls are an attractive mechanism for SMEs and mid-caps because:

Only a short and specific proposal is needed.
Short project durations of approx. 6 months with immediate results.
Offer between 50% and 100% of equity-free funding to SMEs, mid-caps, and DIHs.
The funding is organized and provided through the intermediary role of the Innovation Action, which makes the evaluation process much quicker and effective.
